There are journeys that are not measured by the number of kilometers traveled, but by the smiles at the places where the group stops, the firm handshakes, or the tearful eyes of those who have dedicated their lives to the country.
July, when the entire nation commemorates War Veterans and Martyrs’ Day, is also a time when many events expressing gratitude are held across the country. Gratitude is not limited to memorial ceremonies or bouquets laid at monuments; it is also expressed through concrete, practical actions for those who sacrificed part of their youth for the nation’s independence and freedom.
In keeping with that spirit, on July 25 and 26, 2026, Children’s Hospital No. 1, in collaboration with Vietnam Cultural Heritage Magazine, local businesses, and generous donors, organized a program titled “Medical Examinations, Health Consultations, Medication Distribution, and Gift Distribution” for families of revolutionary martyrs and those who have contributed to the revolution in Can Tho City.
According to the organizing committee, this is an initiative that has been ongoing for many years. Every July, buses set out for a different locality, carrying a team of medical professionals, doctors, medicines, and thoughtful gifts. What remains after each trip is not just the number of people examined or the gifts distributed, but also the bond forged among healthcare workers, partner businesses, and the community in upholding the principle of “remembering one’s roots.”
For many veterans, disabled veterans, and families of military personnel, receiving direct medical examinations and health consultations from doctors and medical staff is a very practical form of care. For those participating in the program, this is also an opportunity to hear the stories of a generation that lived through the war, to understand that the peaceful life we enjoy today was achieved at the cost of countless sacrifices.
