Under the theme “Precision Marketing Strategies for Functional Foods and Their Export Expansion” (Precision Marketing Strategies for Functional Foods and Export Expansion), the conference focused on discussing data-driven marketing trends, digital transformation, and regional cooperation aimed at promoting trade, technological innovation, and the standardization of the functional food industry.
According to Mordor Intelligence, the global functional food market reached $186 billion in 2023 and is projected to exceed $370 billion by 2025, with an average annual growth rate of nearly 8%. Functional foods are transitioning from a supporting role in healthcare to a cornerstone of the modern health economy, as people proactively invest in personalized health and nutrition. Technologies such as biotechnology, big data, and artificial intelligence (AI) are reshaping the entire industry, bringing dietary supplements closer to the concept of “smart healthcare.”
Among the international speakers, Mr. Tran Viet Thanh—CEO of Life Gift Vietnam—was invited to present a paper titled “The Current Market for Functional Foods and Dietary Supplements and Its Distribution Channel Strategy in Vietnam.”

Mr. Tran Viet Thanh analyzed the three socioeconomic and demographic pillars driving the growth of Vietnam’s dietary supplement industry:
“First, Vietnam is the third-most populous country in Southeast Asia, with over 101 million people—a large and dynamic consumer market.
Second, the middle class is growing rapidly, driving an increasing demand for health-related investments.
"And third, the proportion of the elderly population will rise sharply between now and 2033, creating opportunities for many categories of functional foods related to cardiovascular health, bone and joint health, brain health, the immune system, and nutritional supplements…"
He believes that the convergence of these three factors is creating a “golden opportunity” for domestic and regional businesses, as well as investors and manufacturers, who wish to expand their cooperation and bring their products to the Vietnamese market. Vietnam is not only a promising market but also a safe, transparent, and highly promising destination for investment in the functional food sector.
In addition to market potential, Mr. Tran Viet Thanh noted that the Vietnamese government’s macroeconomic policies and digital transformation initiatives are helping to foster a stable investment environment, drive innovation, and attract foreign businesses—particularly in the functional food and health technology sectors. As a result, Vietnam is gradually becoming a strategic hub connecting production, research, and the commercialization of health products in the region.

From the perspective of a Vietnamese business that is deeply integrated into the global economy, he believes that the “pace” of development lies not only in responding quickly to the market but also in the ability to adapt to global standards and tap into international knowledge. In that spirit, Vietnam is asserting a new role—one of both learning and contributing—to become a trusted destination in the regional health economy’s supply chain, where knowledge, technology, and cooperation come together to create sustainable value.
According to the IMARC Group, the size of Vietnam’s dietary supplement market reached nearly $900 million in 2024 and is projected to exceed $1.95 billion by 2033. About 60% of Vietnamese adults have used at least one type of dietary supplement—one of the highest rates in the region. Along with standardizing production in accordance with GMP standards, ensuring traceability, and strengthening inspection and enforcement activities, Vietnam is moving closer to international standards. Three key advantages—abundant local herbal resources, competitive costs, and rapid integration—are helping Vietnam become a vital link in the regional functional food value chain.
The Vietnamese dietary supplement industry is at a pivotal moment: significant opportunities go hand in hand with stringent requirements for quality, standards, and transparency. According to the CEO of Life Gift Vietnam, to achieve sustainable development, businesses must remain committed to three strategic pillars: technological innovation, mastery of production, testing, and digital transformation processes; standardizing compliance with strict domestic and international regulations and fostering international cooperation to promote research, technology transfer, and product development in line with global standards.
